Harsh Roopchand

Founder / Managing Director

Harsh Roopchand is a Hospitality, F&B and Promotion specialist who is Co-founder of award winning Hong Kong based bars and restaurants Amalfitana, Rummin’ Tings, 8 creATEive, Fatty Crab and The Pontiac (#16 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2017). A peoples person, having grown up with a live to eat philosophy and most often spotted between their venues along with his rescue dog and mascot Bear.

Harsh is also Managing Director of ÉPIQUE, a boutique marketing, events and promotion consultancy. In addition to the sales, marketing, PR, and client relations, he creates strategic alliances with key partners and leaders across numerous industries. A former hotelier, Harsh held the role of GM Client Relations at Singapore based property fund, 135 DEGREES, and prior to that the role of Director of Residential Villa Sales, heading up Six Senses Private Residences globally based out of Thailand. He reported directly to Sonu Shivdasani, the Chairman and CEO of Six Senses Resorts & Spas/Soneva Resorts. Preceding this role, he held various sales and marketing positions at the multi-award winning Soneva Fushi and Soneva Gili in the Maldives, leading to his appointment to Director of Sales and Marketing for the two properties.

Harsh earned his BSc in International Hospitality Management from the prestigious École Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland after completing his A levels at Harrow School in the UK. During his studies Harsh also worked simultaneously at the NOGA Hilton in Geneva, Hotel Le Mirador in Mont-Pèlerin and Loedstar Geneva, all in Switzerland in addition to BVLGARI Italy and The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai.

Harsh enjoys dogs, hiking, cooking and is dedicated to contributing personal energy to charitable causes. Trying to give back to society, he is an honorary patron of The Lotus Flower Foundation, an NGO based out of Thailand which aims to eradicate child abuse and build integrated support-focused shelters for orphans. During a sabbatical to explore his spiritual side he taught disabled children at the Society for the Education of the Crippled in India. Harsh and his brother Rohit, who is also his business partner in their F&B ventures together, had the good fortune growing up and living all over the world – which has been a priceless experience for the both of them in terms of learning from a wide range of rich cultures and people from varrying walks of life for which they are most grateful.

Juan E. Romero

Special Projects / Gourmet Catering

Juan is a man of many talents who wears a series of different hats at ÉPIQUE thus the dual title of Special Projects. Known for coming to the rescue wherever the need may arise Juan is an invaluable and trusted member of the core team.

He also oversees Gourmet Catering given his pedigree from world renowned French catering institution Le Cordon Bleu.

Other than ÉPIQUE, Juan was most recently Sous Chef at our affiliated and award winning Amalfitana - Artisan Pizza Bar in Repulse Bay, Hong Kong. Prior to that he held various roles including Bartender at Caribbean bar Rummin’ Tings and Chef de Partie at South-East Asian restaurant Fatty Crab, both in Hong Kong.

Before that Juan worked in a number of establishments in Miami as well as Mexico where he is from. Juan has a Deep Love for food, drinks and animals.

Tom Key

Head of Evolution, The Evolutionator

Unites flexibility and sustainability within a strong strategic business sense. His experience “on the field” makes him a perfect addition to the Épique leaders and in his role as Head of Evolution.

Tom’s working experience started with the development of a retail-brand, which expanded within a short time internationally. He implemented stores in 11 countries around the globe with a consistent and sustainable growth, overseeing the strategy and the operations of the business. Out of his market and business understanding, Tom co-founded a luxurious subsidiary of the business. Branding, Strategy, Product-design and – development lead to a successful opening of stores on 3 different continents.

Further to his strength in creating, developing and leading a brand, he was managing an FMCG category, sourcing for one of the biggest retailers in the world.

Besides his office experience, Tom managed as well a high-end FMCG store himself, employing 120 people.

Having a background in alcohol (literally!), Tom holds a Diplom Ingenieur’s degree in Winemaking and Technology of Beverages.

What else is there to know?! Tom loves good food and wines. He ran several marathons, including NYC, Bordeaux and The Great Wall Marathon and besides being- and speaking German, he is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
